Raven’s Keep began as a trading outpost for Grinsgatian merchants to do business with the barbarians of Wisconia. After Cane financially ruined and chased Francis Orlemayne out of the Grinsgate area, Orlemayne found himself exiled to Raven’s Keep. 17 years later, Orlemayne had become the sole ruler of Raven’s Keep and turned it into a bustling city of approximately 20,000 souls.
After declaring himself King, Francis turned the keep into a prison. He had the windows removed from the 4th floor up. Prisoners kept in those rooms often choose to throw themselves down to the stones below rather than suffer through the harsh Wisconian winters and underpaid jailers. The keep itself is seven stories tall and houses the local ravens. The ravens were formerly utilized as messengers, but now they just nest there and defecate on the tower’s “lucky” seventh floor prisoners.
